The Countdown is begining...
I havent bothered to buy any clothes yet. I've washed all Libby's newborn white and unisex clothes and we will go from there once he/she comes. And we seem to have everything else.
We've finally got a girls name and we think we have our boy's name so that is a relief!!!
All that we had to buy was a cradle for the baby (thanks mum & dad), as we decided not to transfer Libby into a bed before baby comes. Also a double stroller. I want somewhere to restrain Liberty and also somewhere for her to sit when she gets tired + I think she'll want to be in the stroller if the baby is, so this will save some meltdowns im hoping!
We cant wait to meet our new baby! Im ready now!! Well, in a few weeks! I'll just keep it baking for a tad longer in the meantime & spend as much quality time with Libby before it comes.
Yippie!!!

Here is Liberty's bedroom! All ready to share!!!

Oh yeah, we also bought this feeding glider chair on ebay for $50 a few months ago! I didn't have one for Liberty and I said to myself 'for the next one, i want somewhere comfortable to sit'

The Birth...

I thought i'd post up my birth story.. its pretty long! But i've added photos down the bottom for you clucky readers!

The birth
On Friday night throughout the night I started feeling my first bit of back pain I’ve had in at least 3 months! I had a sore back when I was about 6 months pregnant but not in the 3rd trimester, lucky me!! So on Saturday morning I said to Matty, don’t go too far today, I might go into labor, I’ve got a sore lower back! We both giggled as I really didn’t think I was ready as I still didn’t have the ‘signs’ everyone talks about… the show, diarrhea, sharp pains in your inner thigh and groin. So without these signs I knew id be fine!
During the day on Saturday, I went on a walk by the lake to visit Matty at work and we walked into town together to get some lunch! I still had a sore(ish) lower back and very mild period pain but that’s all!
In the evening, I made fried rice for dinner and we ate then cracked out the yahtzee for a few games. Whilst playing, I started complaining about period pains that kept coming and going, and then I said to Matty, ‘maybe we should time these, they may be contractions’. So we started timing them at about 7pm on the Saturday night. They were 5 minutes apart and only lasting about 10-15seconds and not very painful (more just annoying). We called the hospital at about 8pm and the midwife asked if I could still talk through a contraction (yes!) so she just said as its my 1st baby, these kind of contractions could last up to 48 hours! AHHH! She told me to get lots of rest!!I went to bed at 10:30pm, contractions still approx 5 minutes apart but lasting a bit longer and were a bit stronger. I tried to sleep but all of a sudden, I finally felt a strong contraction! Matty heard me yelp and came into the room and watched me, and wait for it…. He laughed at me!!!! Little bugger! So I was now in pain! After an hour or so, I called the hospital again and they told me to come on in…
We arrived at the hospital at midnight, they put me straight into the delivery room. The midwife checked my cervix. I was only 1cm dilated. ‘what does that mean?’ I asked! – yep! As you can see, I didn’t read up that much on the birth as it was too scary!! – the midwife said it meant there was still a long way to go and that it would be the midwives on the day shift that would be meeting my baby. I thought to myself ‘shit! This HUUURTS!’
Mona Vale Hospital is great and I was really looking foreword to using the spa bath during my labor. So Matty ran me a bath and the midwife told me which position to lye in (on all fours) to get the baby into the right position. I thought I’d enjoy the spa but infact, my contractions got stronger and I really wasn’t enjoying it. Once I got out a student midwife came in and tried to tell me to relax during the contractions (yeah right!) they were now so close together, Matty was trying to make me sip h2o during contractions, and sometimes I didn’t even have time to do that! I asked the student midwife, ‘when can I have the drugs?’. She said I wasn’t dilated enough yet (not that she checked) and I’d have to wait! This was at about 2am. Matty was very good, rubbing my back and giving encouraging words, no more laughing now!
The main midwife came back in at about 3:30am and checked me… I was now over 8cm dilated! She said that went really, really fast to dilate that much in 3.5 hours!
My question, ‘so, can I have drugs now??’
The answer.. ‘its too late, its almost time to push’
I looked at Matty and cried ‘I don’t want to do this anymore’
I think he laughed and followed that by some encouraging words about how well I was doing! Ahhhhh, finally! They gave me GAS!!! I don’t know how well it worked but at least it had me concentrating on my breathing! The midwife then broke my waters, I felt a gush of warm water come out of me, ‘ewe, gross’ I said, then I forgot about being embarrassed as my contractions then got about 3times stronger!
It was time to push! Oh my gosh what a feeling. Its amazing!! It hurt like hell but how amazing! Matty could see her coming out! I touched her head once it was out, whilst waiting for the next contraction, and then out she slid (it bloody hurt).
At 4:12am, Liberty was born weighing 3.4kg and 47cm long. I was only at the hospital for 4 hours!
They put her on my tummy and I got to check to see what sex she was! I had to check twice to see we had a beautiful baby GIRL!!!! I had told myself if was going to be a boy in fear of disappointment if I didn’t prepare myself for it, as the whole pregnancy, I secretly wanted a baby girl! My wish came true! The most beautiful baby girl ever!
Liberty didn’t even cry when she came out, she just looked around soaking in the view. I then pushed out the placenta, they took liberty to do her checks then Matty (who shed a tear when Liberty was born) had some cuddles. Whilst I lay there and got stitched back up! Yep, Liberty coming out so fast gave me 2nd degree tearing. It took about an hour to get sewn back up! Ouchy! This time I was sucking on that gas like a champion!
Then we got to spend some time with Liberty, I got to breastfeed her and Matty and I talked and cooed over Liberty! I couldn’t of done it without Matty’s support and the help of the fantastic midwife that was on duty that night!
We are so blessed and happy with our beautiful baby girl!

Its only a matter of days now....
No, I still havent given birth yet! I go from feeling sh*t scared about the birth to very excited to wanting to get it over and done with so we can finally have our baby in our arms!!
I seem to have gathered up a couple of estimated due dates. The one I was originally given was the 24th may (which is tomorrow!!) I've been using this date pretty much throughout all my pregnancy, but since I had the ultrasound a few weeks ago they said the estimated due date is the 27th may, so i'm now going by that one seeing as everyone keeps telling me most 1st babies arrive late... so that means...
4 days to go!!!! Wohoo!!!
Im actually predicting monday the 26th! I like the # 26 cos im born on the 26th feb!
Anyways, here are a couple of photos...
The excited 'parents to be'... in a few days (or up to a couple of weeks) we will be living a whole new life with a whole new person to take care of!! I dont think we really know what we are in for yet, but we CANT WAIT!!!!
Yep, this is my usual 'at home' outfit! It can be any time of the day! I find im most comfortable in flannie PJs and a jumper! This is the bump at 39 weeks!! looking nice and round like i've got a basket ball hidden under my skin!! hehe
Thats it for now my blogging friends... i'll keep you all updated...Xx Jess
P.S. You dont have much more time to play my guessing poll! Let me know what you think... am I having a boy or a girl?? And leave your name and a comment on there, i love to know who thinks what!!! At the moment 'boy' is the leader! Its pretty much been 'girl' the whole time but now the 'boy' is winning! What will it be??? (to play... look in my side bar>>>>>>>>>>>>)

No. I haven't had 'it' yet!!!
Last monday my Mum and Siany came down for a visit! We went to Palm Beach for lunch, it turned out to be the worst service and food ever! I wish I jotted the name down so I could warn any of you not to dine there! Then we drove back and stopped at a lookout for some piccies, and have afternoon tea in Mona Vale, and visited the cutest little baby clothing boutique - just brousing till we know what the sex is!
Me and Siany!

The three of us
That night Matty and I went to the movies to see "what happens in Vegas". We went because it was to raise money for a couple of female paddlers to go to the world championships! On thursday I went and had my first ever pedicure!! My friend Mikey gave me this as a gift for my birthday back in February and I finally got round to doing it! It was a lovely experience! The day spa place was really pretty too!!
On friday Matty, Mikey and I drove up to Katoomba. We had dinner at the Swiss Cottage with our friends Matty A and Leea, and also with my family, Mum, Swen (my 2nd cousin from Switzerland) and his wife Celine! I really like them, we had a good night!
(L-R) Swen, Celine, Me, Dad & Mum
Celine and I posing with our 'belly shots' hehe! She is awaiting her 2nd baby. Her first baby Lea, is the CUTEST little baby!! (Celine 17 weeks, Jess 38 weeks)
Here is a piccie of my mum and dad out the front of their restaurant...
The reason for going all the way up to Katoomba when im about to give birth was because our friends Mikey and MattyA were doing a running race! Not just any running race! 100km trail run! And let me tell you, they were predicting snow for the evening the race was on!! brrrrrr! My Matty was Mikey's support crew and i decided just incase i fell into labour, i'd be better up there close to matty and my family than all alone down here in Narrabeen!
Whilst the boys were racing and Matty supporting, I just veged out at my parents. I didnt feel too good and was totally exhausted, so I just rested up! I felt bad as all my family were next door working, but i would of been no help being so tired!MattyA unfortunately pulled out of the run at the 60km mark due to a bad knee. Mikey soildered on... he finished the 100km race in 11hours and 53minutes which put him in 5th place! An awesome achievement!!!!
Today I had the visit of my Brother John and Siany. They came just to hang out! I did warn them that with only 8 days till my due date, I may not me the best company. We all just veged out here and went on a little walk by the lake to feed the ducks - ONE goose - and fish! We took a few piccies too...
Matty & I in our Swiss T-shirts Swen & Celine gave us!
John and Siany
8 days to go!! My bump at 39 weeks! I cant believe its nearly time!!! Oh, and incase your wondering, no, its not warm!!! I just put on a bikini so we could see all the big - white - bump!!!
Today after we came back from our walk along the lake, a HUGE surprise was awaiting us behind the door... these flowers!!! WOW!! All the way from my Friends Natalie and Keith who are in London! Wishing us well with the birth!! Im not sure if you read my blog Nattie, but THANK YOU!! It was the nicest surprise ever!!!
The countdown is on for this little baby to join our world! We cant wait!!

scan...
Today im off to have an ultrasound of the baby as my fundal height measurements are measuring quite small. Im not too worried as its such a little active baby and I feel like i've gotten bigger and I know im not a doctor but I do know whats going on in my body!
So hopefully i'll be able to add some photos of the little one to this post! Im excited (and nervous) to see it and tempted to find out the sex (but I wont!)
Only 24 days till its Estimated Due Date!
Wow! Not long now!!!
Xx Jess
The baby is fine!!! On most things its at the 50th percentile or just below! Its got short legs (like his/her Daddy!).
* The Estimated Due Date is now the 27th May (a few days later than previous EDD)
* The foetal weight is estimated at 2.723kg (+/- 398gm) which is on the 40th percentile.
* The biophysical profile is scored at 8/8
* The placenta is in a good position
* The cervix is still closed, measuring in at 3.6cm
* The baby is not yet in its birthing postition, its head is facing down, but not ready to come out just yet!
* She showed us its little face and it had its fists up infront of his/her mouth, so we didnt get a good look at the face, but the little hands are so so so CUTE!!
* She showed us its HAIR!! Yep! Again, like its Daddy, it seems to have a fair bit of hair!! So CUTE again!
All is good news! I guess im just lucky at the moment that im all "bump" and no fat... there is still 4 weeks to go though!!! hehehe! I just cant wait for it to come out! I was hoping it would be early cos im getting impatient, but I dont think it will be!! I just cant wait to be able to cuddle our baby, and know if its a boy or a girl!!
Unfortunately we couldnt get a clear photo of the baby in my belly, but I can't leave you all without a baby 'fix'! My friend Daria, Emailed me these photos of her little boy Kaia today... isn't he gorgeous!! Wont be long till you have a little play mate or girlfriend Kaia!!! ;) Xx Jess

Anzac Weekend...
I ended up having to work on saturday! Boy, that was a shock to my big pregnant system!! hehe! It was good to get a bit of $$! And I was kinda like 'putty'... i just filled in the gaps that needed doing! And on sunday I cleaned my parents accommodation - the Cuckoos Nest at the Swiss Cottage - because i knew i just wasn't up to another day of waitressing! Its funny, no one calls me 'small' anymore! But i guess with a gut like this (see photo below) how can you??!! LOL

Sunday was my Mum's 50th birthday.. all the family spoilet her - she deserves it!!!! Matty and I got her a $200 shopping voucher and a toilet travel bag filled with all the toiletries she needs for when she goes to Switzerland (her home country) in august/september this year!
Here is my mum with the birthday cake my brother organised from his friend (its gluten free as my mum has coeliac disease, like me!)

Matty and I...
We had a fun night!!!Now im back in Narrabeen (home) with Matty! And we are so excited, one of my mum's friends has lent us her childrens' cradle for our little one... so I got it all ready today, it was so fun making the bed...
Its beautiful!! I cant wait to have a baby in it!!

Also the other day Matty and I were just watching teli and I thought I saw something move on the balcony... and yes indeed, I did... there was an Owl, just sitting there!!!! It was pretty dark, this is the best photo I got of it. Pretty impressive anyways! Its not everyday we see an Owl!

I also know some blogs that deserve this award... here is one that is definately worthy...
Sian Young of Pieces of Me; You inspire me with your beautiful scrapbooking layouts, your sewing (especially the quilt you made) and photos you take. Not only this but I consider you a *great* friend and also part of the family. Love ya!
Okay, I think this is the longest post I've done in AGES!!!
Hope you made it all the way to the bottom!!!
Have a happy week!!

Bump Update...
Im now 33 weeks - 7 weeks to go YAY!!!
I just measured around my bump (with a dodgy stiff tape measure) and im about 95cm, give or take one cm or two.
I feel great most of the time but get VERY tired too. Sleeping is becoming uncomfortable!! Matty and I call the baby "buddah" cos my belly is so round like buddah!! So, little buddah is moving around lots and lots! I think we have an energetic baby on our hands!!! hehe
The baby's room is 1/2 finished! We've had the cot up since January!!! I've washed all the clothes and blankets we have. Im just waiting on picking up the chest of drawers/change table, port-a-cot and also we need to buy some new blinds and then it should be finished (hopefully by the end of next week!!!)
Okay, enough about the facts.... here are some of the piccies we took yesterday...

We are excited!!!
Matty
Im so excited that I can still fit in my favourite pair of jeans!
Thats BIG!

Cant wait to 'meet' our little baby!

One more close up of the bump...
