Cyber Crop - Week One (round three)

The Cyber Crop at Wentworth Falls Scrapbooks Paper & Things has started again! And week one has a great challenge given by talented Lusi Austin.

The challenge:
“What’s in a Name?”
Find out the MEANING OF YOUR NAME and scrap it!
You must include:

* Some JOURNALING (hand written or typed)

* Some BLACK & WHITE PATTERNED PAPER (you can create some yourself if you like)

It was good fun!! I used a photo my mum took of me when I was about 18 years old and i had just bought my very 1st car!!! A VW beetle! And i was in total denial that it was a "hunk'o'junk" I still am, in fact!! I Loved my bug. Such a cute car.

I decided to keep a whole black and white theme going with the layout this week and im happy with the turn out.

Tag - your it!

I had the lovely surprise by being tagged by Brigitta yesterday!! So here are some facts about me...

1. I used to think scrapbooking was a waste of time (that was before i tried it & got addicted to it ofcourse)

2. I have a fear of vomit - weird i know! But i havent spewed since i was 6 years old (20 years ago)

3. I talk to my cat like he is a human and i believe he understands me

4. I pretty much never do my hair - i comb it in the shower and thats it (oh i guess thats pretty obvious if you've ever seen me in real life - lol)

5. I wish I was a professional dancer (too bad i have two left feet)

6. My handbag is like a pharmacy! I dont like leaving home without panadol, antacids, neurophen etc.. although I rarely use them. Mostly I just pass it onto others around me.

7. yes, im already liking Big Brother this year! I know, i get sucked into these shows waaay too easily!

8. I'm TRYING to put on weight!! and its bloody hard work!

9. First thing I do in the morning is turn my computer on (Brigitta wrote this one.. im going to leave it as i do the exact same thing!)

10. I love monday afternoons. Being spent with Matty my boyfriend!

Today I did a layout of a photo that I took at Steve and Evas Wedding. I really love this photo of Bec and Kato, because its so natural and its so them!! They are the best organisers in our group and here they are doing a few finishing touches on something to do with the wedding!!

Art Journal Challenge - Week Sixteen...

Thanks Emily for the prompt this week!! I put a little bit of thought into it and the idea i came up with made me happy.. it was just thinking of a way to get Matty to participate!! lol

The prompt for this week: "get someone else to contribute"

I knew I wanted Matty to contribute, but how could i get him to?!! Hmmm. So I asked him to write me a little letter that i would put into my card and read it in exactly a years time! So i got the piece of paper ready for him.. and his exact words "oh, i thought i could dictate it to you". Hahahaha! oh gosh!!!! So after explaining again that I wouldnt read the card for a whole year (i dont think he was listening the 1st time) he was happy to do it. I cant wait to read what he wrote! He spent more time on it than I had expected him to. Thanks Matty!

So here is the card with the envelope nicely sealed so be opened on 23rd of April 2008....

Minou back in 1992

Matt & I were doing a bit of tidying around the house last night as there was nothing on TV! And i came across this photo of my cat Minou way back in 1992! He is still alive and is 17 years old now, so he is a little more fragile and a bit sore so we cant just do whatever we want with him anymore (although, he is still happy to be all dressed up).
Back when he was younger he absoutley loved being all dressed up and played with! I used to dress him up all the time like this and sometimes i'd do it in the morning.. go on off to school and when i'd get home in the afternoon Minou would be fast asleep in the dolls pram still fully dressed!

Thanks Siany for putting this on your blog! Its great learning so much about friends. Yes, i know you well, but i didnt realise we had something so uncommon between us... you dont watch much TV... and i love TV!!! lol

Little bit of shopping, happy mail & reminiscing

Well, today im supposed to be going to the mountains to work, but i've been stuck with a cold all week, which has worked its way into my sinuses behind my eyes (again) so im not feeling all that well, and i've got a doctors appointment tomorrow morning in Sydney to fix me up!
So.. I didnt want to stay cooped up at home all day as sometimes it feels nice to have some fresh air and get the heart pumping again on a walk.. and what a better place to walk than in a scrapbook shop! HAHAHAHA! (I think Matty would disagree with that). So i drove up to the Scrapbook Moments shop in Belrose and bought some goodies! Mostly just papers, all Basic Grey! I love that brand! I also stopped at Lincraft on the way home and bought some cheap stuff there and some scrapbook album refils!
So, here are my new goodies...

Today i recieved some *happymail* from my best freind Georgie! When we were younger, we both used to collect Anne Geddes cards, we both have albums full of them. We were both obsessed with anything to do with babies, and we were always babysitting together! So, thanks so much G, for thinking of me when you saw this card! It was a lovely surprise in the letterbox!
We dont live close to eachother any more, but on the rare occasion that we do see eachother, its like we have never been apart, its great!
Here are a couple of photos of us waaay back in 2005, when we were taking photos of ourselves on the beach with the camera on timer (onlookers must of thought we were nuts!!)

On the farm...

Here are some photos from my parents farm! My Mum has 5 goats and makes the best Goats Cheese (we sell it in the restaurant). Three of the goats are pregnant at the moment.. and i think the kids will be born around August! I cant wait! They are so cute when they are babies!

Well, just wanted to do a post with photos in it!! Today Sian and I also went to the Scenic railway and did the boardwalk down the bottom!! It was cold down there where its almost impossible for the sun to shine through! It was good fun!
Tomorrow Bec and Kato are coming up for a wedding for thier friend and they are stay with us at mum and dads! Will be good to have them over!! Hope the mountain weather doesnt get too cold!

How Funny...

How Funny!! After doing Emily Falconbridge's card on "birds" look who came to visit this afternoon!!
Its the first time the cockatoo has actually sat on my lap! Ususally they just sit on the rail or if they are feeling brave they come and sit next to me!

I looked after gorgeous baby Jade today. It was good fun! She is really a great baby. She did real well with her solids! I didnt go well with the bottle feed but the tube makes you feel at ease cos you know she is at least getting the food in!
Such a cutie!

I hung out with Matty a bit this afternoon! We just hung at home! He took the photos of me with the birds! He's off for a run now until we both go out (him paddling, me climbing)

I really liked what Emily came up with this week!!

The first thing I think of when I hear the word "bird" are the Cheeky Cockatoo's that fly onto my balcony most days!! I'm not sure whether my neighbour likes me feeding them or not - many people do feed them! So I only try to feed them when I only have one Cocky visitor.. but just last month, I feed the cheeky cocky that came to visit.. and he squawked (just like as if he was calling his friends to come over) as all of a sudden we had four cockatoos on the verrandah! I was hoping that my neighbour wasn't looking!! hahaha!
The most cockatoo's we've had in one go is seven!
We also get visits from Kookaburras and Rosellas too!

I just want to say a *big* thank you to everyone for their well wishes for my day surgery yesterday!! Thanks to Mum and Dad for taking me to the hospital & spoiling me with a new gluten free cook book and recipe book and a dvd! Thanks to Matty for being so supportive and bringing me three bunches of flowers! To John & Sian for the cute handmade cards! And to everyone who called, sent me sms & emailed me!! I feel so special!! Thanks also to my fellow "art journal buddies" for all your kind comments on my blog too.

I feel really special!! Thanks to my doctor too. Oh and I have to mention how great North Shore Private Hospital is! WOW! The waiting room feels like your in a hotel lobby!!
The doctor has told me I am coeliac, cos of something or rather.. i cant really remember the conversation cos of the drugs i was on!! HAHA! I do remember calling him the Easter Grinch (as he told me no more gluten including easter eggs!!) Hahaha, i'll have to apologise next time i see him. OH and today.. the gluten free diet has been a non event!! I have eaten bread. Im actually going to start after easter.. I figure i've gone this far eating gluten.. i'll give myself one last easter and i'll start on tuesday. eek! Isn't going to be easy!

Art Journal Challenge - Week Thirteen

This week was the perfect week for Emily to put up the prompt she did!!!

The prompt for this week: "whats on your mind?"

Seeing as tomorrow im going into hospital for day surgery (yep, im nervous) to have an endoscopy done. I've got a lot on my mind about it. Im nervous about tomorrow and hope it will all go well.
Im also nervous about the result.. The gastro doctor told me he was 99.9% certain that I have coeliac disease & these biopsies he's taking will confirm wether I do in fact have it.
Im preparing myself to have it. If I do it will mean following a gluten free diet for the rest of my life. This I believe is going to be pretty tough at first. This has been on my mind.

So you want to know how EARTH HOUR went??

Well, yes! We did it in the restaurant! My dad went to buy heaps of candles and we put them on every table in the restaurant! The staff all had torches to help us see when we wrote orders etc! I made a couple of posters to inform people of what earth hour was, and i made badges for all the staff too!
It was good fun!! In fact, the customers loved it so much that at 8:30pm when we switched the lights back on, all the customers sighed so we turned them back off and they all cheered! So we actually celebrated Earth Hour for the entire night!!
Of course in the Kitchen we needed light so Dad could see what he was cooking and the girls could see the dishes pile up (im sure they probably wanted the lights off for that part!!!)

It actually didnt seem as dark as it does in this photo.. but it was hard for the eyes to ajust to the lights after coming from the kitchen all the time! It really created a great atmosphere!!
